Adding EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP and BACnet to devices will no longer require an extensive or complicated redesign. Manufacturers can eliminate the technical burden of integrating communications software into their devices’ application so that any device with a serial port can now add Ethernet-based communication protocols with a simple PCB alteration.
Simply supply Real Time Automation’s RTConnect module with 3.3VDC and route the existing serial interface to it. The module can be configured to interface with the designated device over Modbus RTU or ASCII commands, meaning there is no need to change any application code. The module maps data to and from the device for presentation on EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP and BACnet/IP networks.
The module gives device manufacturers a simple solution to add a full suite of communication protocols to any device. It seamlessly adds a full suite of presentation protocols to their device with a simple hardware integration and a single software interface. Leveraging this proven, off-the-shelf solution greatly reduces integrations costs, risks and time to market. No longer is the full suite of Industry 4.0 protocols out of reach of device manufacturers.
