Salm Partners, a contract manufacturer in Denmark, Wisconsin, is recalling approximately 133,039 pounds (66.5 tons) of Parkview brand ready-to-eat turkey kielbasa that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically bone fragments, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
Parkview is sold at Aldi, which has initiated its own recall of the product. The sausage is sold at select Aldi stores in 35 states plus the District of Columbia.
Salm Partners—which was recently acquired by Johnsonville—notified FSIS that it had received consumer complaints about pieces of bone found in the turkey kielbasa. In addition, FSIS received two consumer complaints regarding this issue. There has been one reported minor oral injury associated with consumption of this sausage. FSIS has received no additional reports of injury or illness from consumption of these products.
The ready-to-eat turkey kielbasa items were produced on October 27, 2023, and October 30, 2023. Additional details include:
- 13-oz. plastic vacuum-sealed packages containing “PARKVIEW TURKEY POLSKA KIELBASA”, with P-32009 and “USE BY APR 24 24” or “USE BY APR 27 24” printed on the package.
The products subject to recall have establishment number “P-32009” printed with the use by date on the front of the package. FSIS is concerned that some product may be in home refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to eat them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
Possible Salmonella contamination leads to recall of 5.5 tons of retail charcuterie trays. |
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
